Today for our Following in their Steps series, we are focusing on the Strong Women, Strong World country of Congo (DRC). Jeanine Gabrielle Ngungu is a member of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s women’s caucus and advocates for women to have a stronger voice within the government and peace talks.  Ms. Ngungo also leads Nous Pouvons, translated to We Can, a group that works with men and women to counter gender violence and to change violence against women as an accepted social norm.

In her leadership positions, she is playing a crucial role in reshaping the views of women in one of the worst places in the world to be a woman.
