The World Health Organization reports that every day, approximately 800 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth and 99% of these maternal deaths occur in developing countries, where over half of births are unattended. Heartbreaking is when the child doesn’t survive, but the mother does- and her life changes. Obstetric fistula is a condition that is not life threatening, but changes a women’s life when she is ostracized from her community. This is a condition that occurs more often in young women and girls. Strong Women, Strong World is supporting child and maternal health projects to prevent fistula and partnering with the UNFPA Campaign to End Fistula to speak out for women’s health care.
