Petals in the Dust

Did you know that…
– 50 million girls have been eliminated from India’s population in the last century?
– 7000 girls continue to be murdered daily in India? (from UNICEF’s “State of the World’s Children”, 2006)

These statistics are disheartening. Petals in the Dust: The Endangered Indian Girls is an upcoming feature length documentary (slated for July) which examines the condition of a seriously endangered class of people living in one of the most populous and economically vibrant countries on earth, modern India. The film highlights how age-old beliefs, intolerance and a preference for sons, combined with growing materialism and technology is leading to increased incidences of discrimination, violence and the horrific and tragic murder of millions of Indian girls and women.
