By Kathleen Treat, Founder & President of the Speranza Foundation, Chair of Strong Women Strong World
On behalf of Strong Women Strong World, World Vision US and our US partners, I am excited to welcome World Vision Canada and World Vision Australia to our Strong Women Strong World movement. At this crucial time for women, I am extremely grateful to partner with these two countries. Together, our voices will reach farther, and our resources will have greater impact. It is encouraging to see the momentum build for this important work.
As World Vision’s one voice to and for women, Strong Women Strong World exists to be a catalytic initiative that engages women and men from around the world who desire to use their resources and influence to empower, protect, educate and nurture women and girls born into poverty.
As a funder of this initiative since it’s inception, I have seen first hand the impact that my investment has made in the lives of women, their children and entire communities. My commitment to SWSW and the amazing work being done has deepened through the years as I have witnessed the success that has been experienced thus far. But I also know that there is much more work to be done. Many women and girls around the world still do not have access to clean water, basic healthcare, education or the economic services that their male counterparts do. The time is now to respond to these needs and move towards sustainable change for women and girls born into poverty.
The support of World Vision Canada and World Vision Australia comes at a critical time. I am thankful for the opportunity to work together to secure a better future for women and girls and to create a stronger world.
