“I would like to bring art to improbable places, create projects so huge with the community that they are forced to ask themselves questions.”
JR, Beaux Arts Magazine
Jr Beaux is a French artist. You will not find his pieces in a gallery or museum. You cannot buy them through a dealer or at auction. It has been said he has one of the largest canvases in the world- the buildings and streets where people live.
In 2008 he created a two year exhibition that went from Brazil to Kenya, Vietnam, Sierra Leone, India and Sudan. “In order to pay tribute to those who play an essential role in society but who are the primary victims of war , crime, rape and political or religious fanaticism, JR pasted huge photos of the faces and eyes of local women all over…”
